York Dante Festival 2023 - Day Three Preview
Due to a few technical difficulties, and a banging hangover after the West Ham game last night, I am up very late; apologies. Friday is the final day of the York Dante Festival and where the first two days are all about potential with the Trails day-three sees some far more familiar faces on the track with the Yorkshire Cup the main event.
Best bets for Day Three of the York Dante Festival
I like the look of one in the mile Listed Oaks Farm Stables Fillies' Stakes at 2.25. Silver Lady looked one to follow when winning at Newmarket on debut despite greenness. She is drifting a bit but I am on at 9-4.
The big race of the day is the Group Two 1m6f Boodles Yorkshire Cup Stakes at 3.35. I have tipped Siskany on both his starts this season and the five-year-old has looked in great form winning the Nad Al Sheba Trophy at Meydan before just losing out to Broome in Dubai Gold Cup looking the winner before before being caught in the final strides. He meets Broom again but on 3lb better terms and can gain revenge. I am on at 9-4.
Best bets for the horse racing at Newmarket
I have backed Hidden Story at 9-4 (there is a pattern forming here) for the 1m2f British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes at 2.15. He just failed to get up at Nottingham on debut and looks a winner in waiting. In the Racehorse Lotto Novice Stakes over a mile at 4.00 Theatre Honours makes debut for Charlie Appleby and is interesting. I back two-year-old debutants from the yard blindly at HQ but this one is three so doesn't fit the 'system strictly speaking but should be backed. A son of Kingman out of a winning mare there is plenty to like on pedigree. I am on at 9-2.
It's an Appleby Yankee if that's your thing.
