TOWIE! Chelmsford City to host first Listed race.

Chelmsford City will stage the richest evening fixture in Britain when the Essex track stages a seven-race card worth a massive £233,640 on the 20th June.

The feature race of the card will be the newly created seven-furlong Listed Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes with a prize fund of £75,000.  The meeting out does Sandown’s Brigadier Gerard Stakes meeting (this evening on ITV4) as the richest evening fixture of the year. The rest of the card will also reportedly contain three £40,000 handicaps backed by the Tote.“We're thrilled to have been awarded our very own Listed race in just our fourth year since opening,” said racecourse manager Fraser Garrity. “It's now our most prestigious race of the year and at £75,000 I think it's one of the top five or so Flat Listed races by value in Britain.”

i am of course somewhat biased being an Essex lad, but good luck to them they are working hard and the course is going from strength to strength.
