The St Leger Festival at Doncaster - best bet for day two the Thursday

Well that was short lived, no sooner were crowd's trackside on Wednesday than it’s as you were and no crowds again from Thursday. We didn’t even have to wait for Boris at four o’clock as the Director of Public Health for Doncaster instructed the course to stage racing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday behind closed doors as early as lunchtime on Wednesday. Anyhow, they do race, which is something, and I am having a bet; day one was frustrating with one bet which was second but some days that's your luck.

Unbeaten 2019 St Leger winner Logician makes his racecourse return in the opener the 1m2f Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Conditions Stakes at 1.10. Despite the drop the trip and lack of match fitness it is no surprise the grey will be long odds-on.

I am actually having just the one bet again, as I did on day one, and she runs in the 3.15 Group Two 1m6½f bet365 Park Hill Fillies' Stakes. I had a shortlist for this from the entries and I think I have whittled it down to the likely winner. Sadly Alpinista doesn’t run, I weren’t going to back her but it has buggered the market a bit. I think Snow looked like a non-stayer in the Lillie Langtry and expected to see her drop back in trip so she’s crossed off the list. Monica Sheriff surely would have preferred plenty of rain about with her best form on heavy and she has to give the three-year-olds weight of course. That brings me to Believe In Love. She has been steadily improving this season and has looked ideally suited by this sort of test, won at Newmarket last time like a Group horse in a handicap. This will need a career best performance, at least on paper, but I am confident we aint seen the best of her yet and with the aforementioned Alpinista a non-runner the biggest danger is out. I am on at 13-8.

Be lucky
