The horseracing week ahead

The title of this post should read the rest of the horseracing week ahead as it's Tuesday; reasons beyond my control meaning the post didn't go live yesterday. It's a quiet start to the week for me anyway with no fancies on Monday or Tuesday.

I may have a bet or two at Chelmsford City on Thursday so do check back. I had a good afternoon at Meydan last Friday and they race again this week with the Group Three Dubai Millennium Stakes the race of the day at the Dubai Carnival, I expect to have a bet or two there as well.

For many the week basically revolves around the opening day of the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown on Saturday with a card featuring four Grade One races. The big race of the day is the Grade One Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup with a back to form Galopin Des Champs already odds-on at the start of the week. Marine Nationale heads the G.1 Goffs Irish Arkle Novice Chase market, also odds-on.

In Britain, the main event of the weekend is in Esher at Sandown Park the Grade One Scilly Isles Novices' Chase over 2m4f in which we may see a favourite of mine Hermes Allen, last seen chasing home the ridiculously impressive Il Est Francais at Kempton in the three-mile G.1 Kauto Star Novices' Chase on Boxing Day.

It's another busy day across the Irish Sea on Sunday with day two of the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown with four more Grade One races on the card including the Chanelle Pharma Irish Champion Hurdle for which State Man is understandably short at around 1-3.
