The horse racing week ahead - Lincoln ante-post bet

The Flat is back - Unibet Lincoln this weekend at Doncaster

With Cheltenham done thoughts almost immediately turn to the Turf Flat season with Doncaster racing this Saturday 27th March with the Lincoln Handicap the race of the day.

Eastern World is the ante-post jolly a four-year-old gelding trained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin. With the Dubai World Cup going on this weekend as well it is perhaps significant that this one has been sent home to run him; not that he was likely to feature in any of the big races out there. Second at Kempton over 1m on debut and second again at Newmarket over the same trip in June he finally went one better at the same venue next time over the mile, winning well. Was a good second on handicap debut at the July course when next seen and then not disgraced in fifth at York; rare below-par run at Doncaster after that when cheekpieces were tried. Gelded over the winter he got back to winning ways on his four-year-old debut in fair handicap at Meydan over 1m1f in February.  I have the 100-30 about him ante-post, which is plenty short enough for this, but he looks to me the potential Group horse in a handicap and a mark of 98 could look very lenient come Saturday evening.

Be lucky
