The horse racing week ahead and the Guineas Festival 2021

This week builds slowly to the Guineas meeting this weekend at Newmarket Saturday and Sunday and these two days will be filling many an hour for me this week as I go through form over and over again.

Guineas Festival Newmarket 1st and 2nd May

One Ruler remains jolly for the 2,000 Guineas and I am happy enough with my bet there, I am on at 5-1. By all accounts he did a piece of work recently that was pretty impressive; fingers crossed the rumours are correct.

Sadly A’Shaari won’t run in the 1,000 Guineas so I need to make a different selection for that one now. It doesn’t look the greatest 1,000 Guineas field ever and Santa Barbara heads the market, a member of the Dirty Dozen for this season. As I said on that page she only raced once at two winning a maiden at the Curragh over a mile; travelled strongly before going through the gap and going clear under hands and heels. By Camelot out of Senta’s Dream she is a half-sister to some fairly decent ones including Order Of Australia. She could be very good but the fact a once raced winner heads the market tells you all you need to know about the strength of depth in the race. I backed Alcohol Free to win the Group Three 7f Dubai Duty Free Stakes, which she did, but there is still a question mark as to whether she will stay, but she has to be on the shortlist.

Horse racing week ahead

There is actually some decent racing every day this week, no least at Ascot on Wednesday so it could be a busy few days ahead. A few bets are planned all being well so make sure you come back to keep up to date with the ones I will be backing.
Be lucky
