The horse racing week ahead and the Breeders Cup at Del Mar

This week I have to be truthful and say it is really all about the Breeders Cup at Del Mar on Friday and Saturday for me.  It might not be everyone's cup of tea but I enjoy it and no-one does it quite like the Yanks! There will be a fair old bit of razzamatazz and a few strange colloquialisms to understand but it is two evenings of top-class horse racing.

The raiding party this year is bigger than ever with record fifty-six international entries feature among the 196 pre-entries revealed for the fourteen Breeders’ Cup races at Del Mar. Twenty-six of them are from Britain, with another seventeen ready to travel from Ireland. The bulk of them will head to California on Friday, with Aidan O’Brien’s party being dispatched 24 hours later. Runners from Japan (8), France (2), Argentina (1), Peru (1) and South Africa (1) are also entered for the 38th World Championships, where prize-money of $31 million is on offer.

There may be a couple of bets to be had this week here in the UK not least with recent tips from me Carnival Girl, fourth at Newmarket and and Yantarni, second at Newmarket, both possibly running again midweek.

Make sure to check back for all the bets and news and of course keep an eye on the dedicated Breeders Cup page.

Be lucky
