The horse racing week ahead and a bet at Windsor

It was a close but no cigar type of weekend for me with bad luck stories across the globe, I managed to tip three seconds amongst the bets in the UK, America and France. Annoying but some times that's just the way it goes but it has put a dent in the figures to what had been a good start to the month of July.

There's a fair bit to look forward to again this week, not least for me a trip to one of my favourite tracks as I am at the July Course, Newmarket on Saturday for a beer and a bet with a few of the old gang and my old mucker Matt to celebrate him turning fifty years young. Away from the jolly boys outing there is plenty of Pattern race action at Newbury come the weekend and out in Ireland it is the Juddmonte Irish Oaks at the Curragh. As way of a midweek treat we have the Group One Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp on Thursday and a couple of decent cards at Newbury and Hamilton on the Friday.

Best bet for the horse racing at Windsor this evening

The 5f Archers Financial Services Of Enfield Handicap at 7.35 is the race of interest to me, just the six line-up but it is a tricky little heat. That said, The Princes Poet seems to save his best for Windsor and the 5f strip especially, his track and trip record reads two wins and a second. He gets in here off a mark of 68, lower than his two wins (70 and 72), and with William Buick in the saddle all looks sets for a big run. I think they'll go fast here with the likes of La Roca Del Fuego and Grandfather Tom likely to want to lead and that can set it up for the selection to pick them off late. I have the 4-1
Be lucky
