The horse racing week ahead
This week builds to the final Classic of the season the St Leger at Doncaster on Saturday. Not as popular as it perhaps once was I am a fan of the race and think it is a shame that it is no longer held in the high regard it once was. A thoroughbred that can stay the 1m6f trip was once highly prized but with many of the major races around the world now over a mile and ten-furlongs winning the St Leger can have a detrimental affect on a Thoroughbreds attraction at Stud. It's a shame but it's the way it is. It's a pretty open affair this year and unusually for me I have as yet not had a bet in the race. Declarations for the Group One St Leger will be made on Thursday as the four-day
Betfred St Leger Festival
gets under way.
It will be yet another quiet start to the week here at Triple G Towers with no strong fancies early in the week. That said come the start of the big meeting on Thursday thing should get a lot busier as there are a few likely to run that I like the look of. Do check back, and remember to keep an eye on the Classics page for updates on the St Leger.
Be lucky
