The horse racing week ahead

I am actually starting this piece with a look back as good old Charlie Appleby and Willian Buick insured it was a winning weekend at Triple G Towers with Nations Pride and With The Moonlight wining the G.1 Caesars Saratoga Derby Invitational Stakes and the G.3 Saratoga Oaks Invitational Stakes over in Saratoga.  Both three-year-olds have more US targets on the horizon. Nations Pride looks set to tackle the Jockey Club Derby at Belmont Park in September while Keeneland’s Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup is on the agenda for With The Moonlight.

As for the week ahead it is a quiet start to the week for me with little of interest for me on Monday and Tuesday. Salisbury takes centre stage midweek with decent cards on Wednesday and Thursday with the Group Thee mile Tattersalls Sovereign Stakes on Thursday the main event in which Modern News is being considered especially as I think Chindit will go for the G.2 Hungerford Stakes on Saturday. Newbury has the Listed 5f  St Hugh's Stakes on Friday as the race of the day on Friday as their two-day meeting begins. Come Saturday Newbury and the Curragh host a number of Pattern races on whilst the Group One Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville is arguably the race of the weekend on Sunday.

Be lucky
