The 2018 Longines World's Best Racehorse announcement

The 2018 Longines World's Best Racehorse and Longines World's Best Horse Race Ceremony takes place at The Landmark Hotel in London on Wednesday 23rd January 2019.

The ceremony, now in its sixth year, will honour the three highest-rated horses in the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings as well as the Longines World’s Best Horse Race.

Previous winners of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse award include Arrogate (USA) in 2017 and 2016, American Pharoah (USA) in 2015, Just A Way (JPN) in 2014, and Australia’s Black Caviar and France’s Treve, who were jointly celebrated in 2013.

It would appear to be a two horse race (sorry) for 2018 between Winx and Cracksman both rated 130 on the last ratings that covered 1st January 2018 - 4th November 2018.

The arguments will no doubt rage whatever the ratings say. I for one am still not convinced that Winx isn’t somewhat overrated. I would like to see her take on Beauty Generation over 8 furlongs, as unlikely as it is, or have taken Cracksman over 1m2f. We would then at least see who the best horse is and I am pretty sure it would not be the Mare from Down Under. I am not convinced she is even the best of her sex; Winx versus Enable anybody?

Cue a hoard of angry Aussies telling me what a flaming Galah I am.

Anyway, for those of you who like me they appear to have forgotten to send an invite to, the video stream will be available at both longines.com and ifhaonline.org as well as shown on the Longines and Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings Facebook pages.
