Tattersalls October Yearling Sale gets underway Tuesday 3rd October 2023

Following the excitement of the last few days action on the racetrack slows down somewhat over the coming week but Sales season is in full swing and owners, breeders and trainers certainly won't be putting their feet-up.

The Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Book 1 gets underway on Tuesday 3rd October 2023 and you can expect some eyewatering sums of money to change hands; last year over the two weeks and four books the total spent was around 199 million Guineas! There have been some large cheques written at the sales at Arqana and Goffs recently not least last week when Coolmore went to €1,850,000 to pickup a blue-blooded Frankel filly at Goffs. The filly is out of once-raced mare Multilingual, a daughter of Dansili and Juddmonte blue hen Zenda with plenty of big Juddmonte names in the pedigree. It will be fascinating to see how she progresses. That fee will likely be surpassed in the coming days at Tattersalls with some regally bred thoroughbreds in the catalogue. Last year sixteen lots sold for over 1,000,000 Guineas with the highest priced yearling in the world in 2022 being a FRANKEL colt out of the DUBAWI mare SO MI DAR who realised 2,800,000 Guineas purchased by Anthony Stroud on behalf of Godolphin.

It will be a busy couple of weeks at Park Paddocks, Newmarket until the end of Book 4 with the great and the good of the horseracing world in Newmarket and I will be keeping an eye on proceedings.
