Sha Tin Hong Kong Wednesday 5th April 2017

It being Wednesday it is Hong Kong for a bet today though not Happy Valley this week but Sha Tin on the all-weather track.

Winner for me last week at Happy Valley 6-1 Giddy Giddy is out again today in the first race the Sub Tin Wai Handicap but he’s up 5lb for that narrow win last week and he’s drawn 12 of 12! A follow up win looks a tough ask and I am not convinced the longer home straight here helps his cause either.

Race 7 at 3.20 our time is the Chun Shek Handicap over 1,200 metres. D B Pin started the 2016/17 season in Hong Kong rated 56 and is up to 97 having racked up a sequence of 1, 1, 1, 2, 1. Drawn in stall one with Zac Purton in the saddle the four-year-old might not be finished yet but the four wins were all over 1,000 metres; has run twice here over 1,200 on the turf when beaten in the shadow of the post both times. This is also his first try on synthetics so I think might be worth taking on and as he is plenty short enough as well in the market at around 6-4. Perpetual Treasure has winning course and distance form at this level, albeit a few months back, as well as the assistance of Magic Man Joao Moreira again – was in the saddle when last winning. I would expect to see similar tactics as that day sitting in behind early before picking them off turning for home. At 10-1 the six-year-old is also a far more attractive price.

Be lucky
