Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe review and the horse racing week ahead

I think the best way to describe my reaction as the Arc finished was shock. Torquator Tasso getting up at 80-1 was shock enough but the fact second and third were Tarnawa and Hurricane Lane, my two best in the race, left me standing open mouthed in my local Coral shop for a good while I can tell you; I was eventually dragged into the boozer next door for a beer by my mate Matt.  Hurricane Lane was slightly shuffled back in a relatively slowly run race, with a bit more luck or of course a better early pace I remain convinced he would have won - could've, would've, should've.............. It was a winning day for me though with Zellie and Space Blues winning.

It's a relatively slow start to the week but there is plenty to look forward to at Newmarket on Friday and Saturday not least the Group One  Darley Dewhurst Stakes in which my ante-post punt for next years 2,000 Guineas Native Trail should line-up - the colt is odds on already!

There are no bets for me Monday or Tuesday but do check back as the week goes on and there should be plenty to be had later in the week.

Be lucky
