Ninety-four entries revealed for the 2024 Randox Grand National
Irish stables dominated the entry list for this years Randox Grand National released today (Tuesday 6th February 2024) with a record total of sixty-one horses from the Emerald Isle entered in the race.
Ninety-four horses are entered in total with last years winner Corach Rambler and Noble Yeats, who won in 2022 and finished fourth last year also on the list; he of course may yet go in the Stayers Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival before Aintree. With the plethora of Irish entries it's no surprise to see Willie Mullins has thirteen entered but Gordon Elliott takes the prize for sheer number of entries with no less than twenty-six of his horses entered! Elliott is bidding to equal George Dockeray, Fred Rimell and Ginger McCain by training the winner on four occasions - he has so far saddled Silver Birch and Tiger Roll (twice) to win the race.
This years race is the first time that only thirty-four runners will be guaranteed a place, down from the usual forty, and I am not about to put up an ante-post punt today, but Galia Des Liteaux from the yard of Dan Skelton is high on my shortlist.
