Longines World Racing Awards 2024

Equinox was named the world's best racehorse 2023 on Tuesday afternoon, 23rd January 2024, at the Longines World Racing Awards held at The Savoy in London. Equinox was awarded a rating of 135 at the ceremony for his Japan Cup victory, which came at the end of a season including victories in the Dubai Sheema Classic, Takarazuka Kinen and Tenno Sho (Autumn). He was rated 7lb clear of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Ace Impact who took joint-second with Mostahdaf.  Masashi Yonemoto, the CEO of Equinox's 300-strong ownership group Silk Racing, was in London to collect the award.

Trainers, jockeys, owners and breeders from across the racing world attended the ceremony at the Savoy to celebrate the eleventh time that Longines and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) had joined forces to celebrate the best horseracing with the ceremony streamed live.

European three-year-old colts feature heavily in the rankings and it is a shame we won't get to see the likes of Ace Impact and Paddington race as four-year-olds.
