Lincoln Handicap the statistics you should know

To play with a quote from Alfred Tennyson (yes I have read more than just the formbook) “In the Spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of the Turf.”

Saturday sees the Turf season 2019 bet underway at Doncaster with the main event the Lincoln Handicap. Stats naturally play a big part in punting on the Lincoln with such little recent form to go on at the very start of the Flat season. With this in mind here are a few to keep at the forefront of your mind as you go through the runners and riders this week. Horses aged 6 or younger have won 15 of the last 15 renewals! A weight less than 9-4 was carried by 14 of those (8 of last 9 between 9.0 and 9.4) plus 12 were drawn in stall nine or higher. Winning form over a mile is a big plus, those stepping up from shorter do not fair well.

Also worth noting Dirty Dozen member Ghaiyyath is back at HQ and being prepared for the Group Two Prix d’Harcourt at Longchamp on Sunday 7th April
