Horse racing weekend review and a look at the week ahead
A quiet start to the week at Triple G Towers following a slightly frustrating Sunday at Longchamp. I had two winners in the shape of Victor Ludorum and One Master from six bets but had hoped for more. Enable, of course, was second in the Arc unable to win that historic third renewal. What a mare she has been though and if that is it now
she will retire a true legend of the sport. That said, she may run again yet as she has two entries on Qipco British Champions Day and there is always the Breeders Cup.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday morning, Khalid Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said of any plans to run her again "It's entirely his [Khalid Abdullah] decision. I think one of the great things about owning thoroughbreds is you can make these choices. "
It could be a quiet start to the week across the horse racing game with Pontefract abandoned on Monday and the Tuesday meetings at Leicester and Catterick subject to morning inspections after heavy rain over the weekend; sadly more is forecast from the coming days.
This week builds to the Dubai Future Champions Festival at Newmarket on Friday and Saturday with a dry day forecast for the Friday but a chance of more rain on Saturday. I will be getting involved in both cards so make sure you log on to see what horses are being backed.
For now, stay dry, and be lucky
