Horse racing Tuesday 17th September from Newcastle

It is a quiet start to the week for me and has got quieter as I wanted to back the Saeed bin Suroor trained Godolphin owned filly Faakhirah in the 7.00 at Newcastle but she is skinnier than a supermodel on laxatives and can’t be backed at the price.

She is one for the notebook, I think, having put in a fair debut performance when second to odds-on shot Jovial on firm at Yarmouth in August 2019. By Dawn Approach she is a half-sister to US dirt 6f winner Deep Thinker being out of Rawaaq who herself won over 6f as a 2yo and then the 7f G.3 Leopardstown 1,000 Guineas Trial Stakes as a 3yo. She will come on for her debut and will surely be competing at a better level than this in time.

Be lucky
