Horse racing review and a look forward to Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Weekend

Looking back the Cambridgeshire Meeting at Newmarket was somewhat annoying with my results for five bets reading 2nd, 1st, 4th 2nd and 2nd! We didn't see a likely Guineas winner to my eyes and with the results I had I will move on quickly and leave the meeting in the past.

The week ahead really is all about the weekend with another big meeting at HQ the Rowley Mile this Saturday with the Group One Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes the main event. Sunday, being the first weekend in October, is of course Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe day. You are going to read a lot of editorial along the lines of can she do it? The horse in question is of course Enable who will be lining-up for her fourth Arc and trying for an unprecedented third win in the race. With the Prix de l'Abbaye and Prix de la Foret just two other heats on the card it is a brilliant afternoon of racing and though none of us can be there I for one will be plotted up with a glass or two enjoying the horse racing; that is one certainty you can bet on!

The going was officially very soft on Monday out in Paris with their forecast similar to us, rain is likely later in the week. Very soft or heavy conditions would of course be unknown territory for most of the leading fancies, not least ante-post favourite Love, so I will be holding off from punting just yet. I have had one bet though for the meeting on the Saturday card.

One that won’t mind it wet is Princess Zoe who will go in the Qatar Prix Du Cadran on the Saturday card in Paris. Trainer Tony Mullins said back in August "The serious reduction in prize-money in England has steered us back towards the Prix du Cadran" and it would appear it is all systems go for a raid on Longchamp. I have the 11-2 ante-post on the improving grey mare. The trip is an unknown but the plan is for a novice hurdle campaign eventually so you would assume the trip holds no fear. The biggest dangers at this stage are Call the Wind and Nayef Road both of whom I think are better on good ground so the forecast is going against them.

Be lucky
