Horse racing resumes in the UK – for some but not all!

Horse racing in the UK resumes on Wednesday 13th February 2019 following the short enforced break due to the equine flu outbreak. It is of course what has been described as a risk-managed return. The Press Release can be found on a separate post.

It would be fair to say a number of trainers are not happy with the new BHA vaccination rules and it is a case of what CAN run as much as what WILL for the next few days.

Nicky Henderson, for example, tweeted on Tuesday: Update re weekend. The following CANNOT run: Yellow Dockets, Santini, Top Notch, Beware The Bear, On The Blind Side, Verdana, Blue Countister

Anyway, horse racing is back albeit in a somewhat watered down version for the next few days. As an example, I wanted to back Blazon on Wednesday (was in the four-day decs) but now the declarations are finally confirmed he won’t be running at Kempton.

Looks like the first bets for me this week will be Thursday out in Dubai.
