Horse racing news Wednesday 29th May 2019

It has been a quiet start to the week but it builds to a crescendo for the weekend with, of course, the Investec Derby Festival at Epsom Friday and Saturday including the Derby and the Oaks, plus on Sunday we have the Qipco Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly. It really is the calm before the storm.

A largely dry week is forecast with temperatures, all being well, hitting a balmy 26c on Saturday so it looks likely racing will go ahead on good-firm ground, not actually that unusual for the Derby meeting. Will Sir Dragonet want it quick? His two runs to date have been on good-soft.

14 have been confirmed for the Oaks on Friday, Pink Dogwood, one of four runners for Aidan O'Brien, is the current jolly at around 9-4.

A field of 10 has been declared for the same day's Investec Coronation Cup, including Triple G favourite Kew Gardens, currently available at around 2-1. which I have taken.
