Horse racing news Tuesday 28th May 2019

The shocking May continues at Triple G Towers with another set of hard luck stories and horses running inexplicably below form! Hopefully, I am getting all the bad luck out the way before the Derby meeting and Royal Ascot in June.

Talking of Royal Ascot Robert Havlin said of my ante-post punt for the Commonwealth Cup Calyx who was beaten into second at the weekend at odds of 2-13 in the Sandy Lane Stakes "Everything went smooth and he travelled lovely through the race. I was getting a bad feeling he wasn't going to pick up. There was nothing there and he almost ran like a horse having his first run. I rode him ten days ago and he flew. I fully expected him to come here and win ten lengths but hopefully there's something we can iron out there." I for one certainly hope so as I am on at 5-4 – he is out now to 6-1 in places!!!!!

Elsewhere Telecaster and Sir Dragonet have unsurprisingly been added to the field for the Investec Derby at Epsom on Saturday. Aidan O’Brien has over half the field with eight of the fifteen left in now Sir Dragonet has been added; his other seven are Anthony Van Dyck, Broome, Cape Of Good Hope, Circus Maximus, Japan, Norway and Sovereign.

The weather looks likely to improve as the week progresses with temperatures in the 70's forecast for Friday and Saturday so we should get proper racing ground; even possibly on the fast side.
