Horse racing news Tuesday 21st August 2018

Ante-post punters are sweating today with market leader for the Ebor handicap Saturday the Willie Mullins-trained Stratum the 23rd horse in the weights this morning for a race which has a maximum field of 20!

"Whether Stratum gets in or not will massively change the complexion of the betting," said Sky Bet spokesman Michael Shinners. "Ante-post he has been the best-backed horse and could go off as one of the shortest-priced Ebor favourites of recent years."

The Ebor Festival starts tomorrow and it could be a cracker. The  Group One Juddmonte International on Wednesday and  Group One Yorkshire Oaks on Thursday both have stellar fields whilst  Stradivarius will be bidding to win the £1million Weatherbys Hamilton Stayers’ bonus on Friday. It should be a wonderful four days on the Knavesmire.
