Horse racing news Monday 7th March 2022

With the Cheltenham Festival looming large on the horizon it is not that surprising that it is a relatively quiet week ahead; it says a lot that on Saturday the racing is in ITV4 with the All-Weather card at Wolverhampton, that includes a Listed race, as part of the schedule alongside the meeting at Sandown. Sandown hosts the Grade Three Paddy Power Imperial Cup and a Grade Three Novice Handicap Hurdle Final.
There is the possibility of a bet of two from me this week but not too many. Do keep checking back though as any bets will be on here first and of course any updates for the Cheltenham Festival.
I was saddened to read of the barn fire, reportedly caused by electrical storms at the stable of Wesley Ward in Lexington, Kentucky. It has resulted in the death of three horses, including the trainer's first Royal Ascot winner Strike The Tiger. The trainer is having a run of bad luck having  only last month had twelve golden Royal Ascot trophy boxes stolen from his home in Versailles, Kentucky.
