Horse racing news Monday 6th July 2020
What a weekend that was, and what a race the Coral Eclipse. I know I am bias, I am a fan and was on at 5-2 but Ghaiyyath looked brilliant again!
I am kicking myself a little for not backing Fancy Blue in France for the French Guineas having backed her at the Curragh for the Irish version but there you go, so many races coming thick and fast at the moment and you can't back every horse. Love stayed the trip in the Oaks, which I had doubted, and Frankly Darling clearly was not at home on the undulating course. English King finished fifth in the Derby never really getting in a blow. As for the winner Serpentine, he was visually very impressive but was it a bit of luck they let him get away, a great ride or is this horse a proper machine? I am not sure, but you have to give some credit to Emmet McNamara in the saddle. We don't see him often over here, a key member of O'Brien's backroom team at Coolmore this is his first Group One win I believe, congratulations.
There is plenty to look forward to again this week with the delayed Dante at York on Wednesday, not that it is a Derby trial this year of course, and we have the July Festival at Newmarket Thursday through Saturday.
Stay safe and be lucky
