Horse Racing news Monday 22nd June 2020

The weirdest and toughest Royal Ascot I can remember has been and gone. Some crazy results with plenty of double figure odds winners and of course Nando Parrado at 150-1! The Bookies must have been loving it. You expect a couple of big prices in the cavalry charge handicaps but there were more than a few races this year that left us at Triple G Towers scratching our heads. Still, it was nice to have some sort of normality back and it is always a fun week, even if you are doing money!

It’s a busy schedule this week, if not of the same quality as last, and we do have the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby to look forward to this weekend.

Scotland is racing again with a meeting at Ayr today following confirmation by the Scottish Government that professional sport can resume in line with the move to Phase 2 of its Covid-19 route map.

Elsewhere the French government has announced that all sports stadia, including racecourses, in France will be reopened to the paying public from July 11, with a limit of 5,000 people. It will be interesting to see how that pans out and it does mean there is a glimmer of light on the horizon that we may get to go racing again here in the UK soon.

Be lucky
