Hayley Turner facing BHA hearing

I couldn’t help but giggle at the story breaking today in regards to Hayley Turner and her internet betting account. She will now face a British Horseracing Authority disciplinary panel hearing on 14th December. The account was not opened until she retired from race riding at the end of the 2015 season but technically she still held a licence meaning she was in breach of the Rules of Racing in regard to licensed jockeys having betting accounts.

I think we can safely say she was not using any privileged inside information; according to reports she placed 164 bets over a year-and-a-half for a profit of £160.

I hope she gets nothing more than a slap on the wrist and if need be a minimal fine as quite frankly there are a lot more dubious characters in the game that we should be going after!

Yes, she has made a ricket but let’s be honest here no harm has been done; she didn’t even win enough to pay for the Triple G bar bill at an average midweek meeting down at Lingfield on a cold day in January!!!!!!
