Happy Valley Hong Kong Wednesday 2nd May

I will be having a go at Happy Valley Hong Kong today as is the norm with the experiment punting in the Old Colony just about showing a profit – I am +3.57 to level stakes since 23rd November.

I put up Fish N’ Chips on the 20th April and the six-year-old came stone bonker last!

That said he fluffed the start and was crowded for room before being forced to travel wide and without cover for the rest of the race – also Mo Hin-tung reported afterwards that his saddle slipped to the right following the early scrimmaging placing him at a significant disadvantage. Hopefully the start of the Night Jar Handicap at 1.45 will be incident free and the saddle will stay in place this afternoon under Keith Yeung Ming-lun who takes over with the steering duties. I fancy the gelding could take this at a tasty 12-1 if he can overcome an awkward draw in seven.

Earlier on the card a regular for me Giddy Giddy runs in the Lyrebird Handicap but he looks to be high enough in the ratings now on 40 and the 12 draw is a nightmare – the roan gelding might be fast enough to get across but the effort will surely stretch his stamina and the C+3 track layout has the second longest home straight which won’t help his case either!

Be lucky
