Day One Aintree Grand National Festival Best Bet

It's day one of the Grand National Festival up up Aintree and there is one worth a punt at a decent price.

A solid favourite at Triple G Bristol De Mai is out this afternoon in the Grade One Betway Bowl. Very good on his day he readily won the G.2 Peter Marsh at Haydock before a decent effort when seventh in the Gold Cup, was still going okay when mistake three out. He wants it soft under foot though and he won’t get that today. Paul Nicholls trained eleven-year-old Silviniaco Conti is a huge favourite of mine and been at the very top of the tree for a while now; seven Grade One wins over the years testimony to that. He of course has won this race twice in 2014 and 2015 (tried the National last year) and even though this season's efforts haven’t been of his usual high standards he arrives here fresh as a daisy having skipped Cheltenham, and is never happier than when bowling along out in front on a flat track making this race ideal. 10-1 with Paddy Power will look huge if he can rediscover the old sparkle.
