Coral Welsh Grand National behind closed doors

It has been announced that the Coral Welsh Grand National at Chepstow on Boxing Day will be held without spectators following the Welsh government's announcement that all sporting events in Wales will be staged behind closed doors from 26th December due to the spread of the Covid-19 Omicron variant.

There are no such measures in England at this time as Boris Johnson did not announce any new measures on Monday, but said data was being reviewed "hour by hour".

You can't help but think restrictions on crowd numbers at sporting events in the very least is on the way though; on Monday London's New Years Eve celebrations for example were cancelled Sadiq Khan the Mayor of London said this was “in the interests of public safety”.

If you are going horse racing over the festive period have fun, please stay safe and be lucky.
