Charlie Appleby says Blue Point is finished for the season

Blue Point will not run again this season, said trainer Charlie Appleby.

The Group Two-winning colt had been in contention for the British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot on Saturday after he claimed the Bengough Stakes earlier in the month.

But Appleby told www.godolphin.com: "Godophin have Harry Angel in Saturday's race, and it's no good having him and Blue Point banging their heads together at this stage." He added “Blue Point will be trained ultimately for next year's King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot."

A statement posted on Godolphin's website said Blue Point "will be sent to winter in Dubai", with the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan the ultimate objective.
