Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale

Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale got off to a strong start on Tuesday at Park Paddocks in Newmarket with a trio of yearlings by Dubawi selling for a million Guineas or more. That as it turned out was but the Aperitif as the big guns really flexed their muscles on Wednesday and, to be frank, it was all about Frankel.

Day two of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale has seen the most expensive yearling sold anywhere in the world this year pass through the ring as Watership Down Stud’s Frankel colt out of So Mi Dar eventually sold for a bid of 2,800,000 Guineas to Anthony Stroud for Godolphin. Just a few minutes later Croom House Stud offered a three-parts sibling to Broome a colt by Frankel out of Sweepstake, whose five winning offspring to date are headed by Broome, and Coolmore went to 2,400,000 Guineas for that one. He was MV Magnier's second seven-figure purchase of the session as earlier in the day he had given 1,500,000 Guineas when Newsells Park Stud presented a Frankel filly out of Shambolic. The filly is the first foal out of Shambolic, a winning and Listed-placed daughter of Shamardal. A little later the boys in blue were at it again Godolphin going to 1,100,000 Guineas for a Dubawi filly out of Gr.1 winner Urban Fox, sold by Baroda Stud on behalf of breeders Barnane Stud.
