Blue Point For Haydock & Poetic Charm Goodwood

Blue Point remains on course to make his first start following a mid-season break in the 32Red Sprint Cup at Haydock on 9th Septmber.

The son of Shamardal has been given a short period of time off by trainer Charlie Appleby as he recovers from his third-place finish in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot (tipped on GGG)

Appleby said: "Blue Point is in good nick and he is cantering away now. All being well, he will head to Haydock. The next couple of weeks will be telling when we step his exercise up again. He looks great and it is not like we are dealing with a horse that has been injured and his having his first run of the season. He has had that bit of a break and I'm very pleased with him. Blue Point brings some very consistent form to the table and I am looking forward to seeing him back in action."

Stablemate Poetic Charm could look to return winning ways in the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood later this month. The daughter of Dubawi lost her unbeaten record when she finished fifth as favourite for the Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday (tipped on GGG).

He added: "The ground was a bit dead and she was not going anywhere in the last 100 yards. She was a filly before the race I had ground concerns all week over. You can put a line through that. We will get her back on a quicker surface and we could maybe look at the Prestige at Goodwood."
