Best bets for the racing from Meydan and Chelmsford City Thursday 10th January 2019
A quiet week thus far but it all gets going on Thursday with 3 bets to be had one here in the UK and two out in Dubai at Meydan in the Dubai Carnival.
Fist up at for Triple G at Meydan at 3.40 it's the UAE 2000 Guineas Trial Sponsored By Strata on the Dirt Mile. Royal Marine was one I followed at two and he did us a couple of favours not least when winning the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp. The colt is strongly fancied to take this and is odd-on at 8-11.
At 4.50 they go on the Dirt strip again for the Al Maktoum Challenge R1 Sponsored By Mubadala Group 2 Stakes. Heavy Metal won the G2 Godolphin Mile and G3 Firebreak Stakes on this C&D last year. Off 9 months but if anywhere near as good - and he should be - on seasonal debut will take this; I have the 2-1.
Here at Chelmsford City they line-up for the 1m2f Extra Places At totesport.com Novice Stakes at 5:15. Kinver Edge is an interesting newbie for Godolphin and the Charlie Appleby yard. A $350,000 yearling he has already been gelded so needs to be winning prizemoney. Dam was a US 8f/8.5f winner at two and a Grade 3 winner at 4 so he looks bred for the job. At 4-1 I have taken a chance.
