Best bets for the horseracing this weekend

It has been a quiet week for me with just three bets placed, one winner meaning I am showing a profit on the week. With Warwick and Uttoxeter both abandoned it’s a quiet Saturday with just Newbury racing over the obstacles and Wolverhampton and Newcastle hosting All-Weather fixtures.

Horseracing at Newbury

Shishkin is odds-on in the Grade Two Betfair Denman Chase at 2.05 looking to book his place at Cheltenham in the Gold Cup. I can’t be backing him at the price, especially on the going, but wouldn’t be surprised if he won. The Grade Two 2m½f Betfair Exchange Game Spirit Chase at 2.40 has just the four lining-up. Edwardstone has arguably the best form on the heavy going and though for me he is not the horse he was, the ten-year-old may be able to grind out a victory here. Boothill is considered but the going is a bit of an unknown. At the prices I am leaving this alone as well. I am all about the All-Weather up at Dunstall Park Wolverhampton.

Best bet for the horseracing at Wolverhampton

Charlatan didn't have the clearest of runs last time at Lingfield but still got up to win with what looked like a little more in the tank if required. He goes for a hat-trick in the mile Best Racing Odds Guaranteed At Betmgm Classified Stakes at 6.00 and is fancied to get it despite the 5lb penalty he carries here. Callum Shepherd rides again and the yard of David Simcock is in fair form. I have the 7-4. Hawajes is feared having finally got his head in front last time but he has ultimately been a disappointment

Charlie Appleby has a couple entered in the 1m4f Stay Golden With Betmgm Safer Gambling Novice Stakes at 6.30; both making their racecourse debut at the age of three. Kings Reign was a 1,500,000 Guineas yearling purchase and being by Dubawi out of G.1 winner God Given (Nathaniel) he is a half-brother to the very good Silver Knott. The family has produced plenty of winners including half-brother to God Given, Postponed. Tom Marquand gets the leg-up and is no bad substitute for Will Buick and I have had a bit at the 7-4 this morning best odds guaranteed. Los Toldos was another yearling purchase, just the 750,000 Guineas spent on this one, who is by Frankel out of Evita Peron. His two half-siblings aint done much on the track but the dam is related to a couple of good ones so you never know......I think he is the one best watched for now.

Callum Shepherd and David Simcock have another one going for a hat-trick in the 1m4f Betuk. It's Where The UK Bets Handicap at 8.00 in the shape of Charlies Choice and he is fancied to complete it as well. He won 1m2f here in January before taking a 1m3f event at Kempton last time. The lightly raced four-year-old is clearly thriving and fancied despite a 6lb rise to a mark of 73; he looks more than capable of leaving that mark behind to my eyes. I am on at 3's

I will be keeping an eye on the horseracing at Navan on Sunday but do not plan on having a bet.

Be lucky
