Best bets for the horse racing Wednesday 9th August at Kempton Park

I mentioned on Monday that Charlie Appleby had three entered at Kempton Park on Wednesday and that they all may be worth a look, well all three are due to run and it's no surprise William Buick is in town to ride. The old satchel swingers aren’t taking any chances, perhaps unsurprisingly in fairness, so you won't get rich with these three but I have to be on them all.

First up is debut winner Measured Time in the mile Unibet Horserace Betting-Operator Of The Year Novice Stakes at 6.00. His win came over this track and trip in February and the form is looking fair with the second and fourth winning since (third was another Appleby runner that hasn’t run since). The son of Frankel, out of Godolphin owned mare Minidress, is a full-brother to the winning filly Dubai Duty as well as half-brother to the top-class multiple G.1 winner Rebel Romance and Irish winner Petticoat; all rated over a 100 in their careers. There’s surely more to come from this one and I am on at Evens.

Next up at 6.30 in the 7f Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes is Classic Encounter. By Shamardal out Zhukova this one is a half-brother to First Ruler and Imperial Emperor both winners that have been rated in the 100’s. Shamardal needs little introduction as a French Guineas & Derby winner whilst Zhukova was a top-class filly on her day winning, amongst others, the G.1 Man o' War Stakes; she’s a half-sister to Ghaiyyath. Plenty will be expected of this one and on breeding there’s every chance he’ll be ready to go on debut. I have 11-10.

Last but not least is Important Role in the 7f Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes at 7.00. A 625,000 Guineas yearling purchase by Dubawi out of I'm Wonderful there’s plenty to like in the pedigree with this one as well. The dam is an unraced Giants Causeway mare with a fair bit of American form in the family being related to G.1 winners such as J. B.'s Thunder and Carpe Diem as well as several other winners in the States and here in the UK. I am on this one at Evens.

Here's hoping for a quick fire Moulton Paddocks treble.

Be lucky
