Best bets for the horse racing Wednesday 3rd March
It has been a quiet start to the week for me betting wise, plenty going on in the horse racing world mind you!
What is going on out in Ireland? First we have that photo of trainer Gordon Elliott sitting on a dead horse swiftly followed by a video showing an individual, believed to be a Cheltenham Festival winning jockey who has been named on a number of websites, sitting on top of a dead horse on the gallops. Unbelievable.
Best bets for the horse racing at Kempton Park
I said earlier in the week I doubt any of those lining-up in the 'Road To The Kentucky Derby' Conditions Stakes at 6.50 will actually make the trip to Kentucky in May but it is a decent little race nonetheless and one should be backed. Highland Avenue was second on his racecourse debut over seven in December last year beaten a neck perhaps a little green before winning a maiden here over track and trip in January; second Silent Film franking the form since (tipped on here). This grey son of Dubawi out of Lumiere is bred to be very good and it is a case of so far so good. You would imagine that Charlie Appleby ultimately hopes for bigger prizes from this one than a Kempton Park Conditions Stakes but it’s an obvious next stepping-stone. This will be his third start on the All-Weather so Finals Day and the three-year-old Championship could enter calculations should team Godolphin fancy. Anyhow, the Bookies aint taking any chances with the price but I am on for this at 11-10. Apollo One looked a fair sort on turf last year and will be a danger if going on the surface on his return to the track after a winter break whilst the Ryan Moore-ridden Oo de Lally completes the shortlist.
