Best bets for the horse racing Wednesday 3rd January 2018

Nice little winner to kick start the year yesterday, and we go again today. The Tapeta at Wolverhampton has a tendency to suit horses that race handy and it often proves difficult for anything to come from a long way behind so you generally want one that’s going to be up the pointed end throughout. I have three who should all run the way I want them to at Dunstall Park all being well, and most importantly, will pass the line in front!

At 4.10 they go over the seven furlongs for the sunbets.co.uk Handicap. Ten-year-old chestnut Oor Jock aint getting any younger and hasn’t won for 13 runs but goes particularly well here, one win over track and trip and two second placed efforts over six in three runs. I would expect to see him tucked in just behind the leaders in this and having dropped to an OR of 47 with Ross Coakley taking off a handy 3lb I think he is the answer to this little puzzle at 7-2 and will make to trip across from Kildare worthwhile.

Compass Hill has moved across the Irish Sea form John Joseph Murphy to the yard of Jo Hughes and the chestnut is the pick for the Follow Sun Bets On Twitter Handicap at 5.10. The chestnut gelding generally runs handily and makes his debut in the UK off a mark of 66 having been rated as high as 86 in the past. On the best of his form from the Emerald Isle, best efforts on softer going, he wins this and I have taken a chance at 100-30.

At 6.10 they line-up for the 32Red.com Novice Median Auction Stakes over 1m1½f . That’s So Cool ran just the once at two, over track and trip here in December, when fifth in a bunch finish actually beaten less than a length. I touch throughout he saw the trip out well on debut and with the expected improvement for that effort he is fancied to get off the mark at the second attempt; the yard of David Simcock is in fine form and Luke Morris rides today, get on at Evens.

Be lucky
