Best bets for the horse racing Wednesday 20th July

Normal service is resumed following the abandonments due to the heatwave aand we have a full programme of races on Wednesday. Over the Irish Sea at Naas they have a nice little evening card and I think Ger Lyons and Colin Keane can take home a few quid by teaming up to win both the Listed races on the card.

Best bets for the horse racing from Naas

Sacred Bridge is one I have talked of and backed before, she may not have reached the heights hoped for over the winter but she is still a decent filly and should prove too strong for the rest of the field in the Listed 6f Yeomanstown Stud Irish EBF Stakes at 6.30. She won twice over this track and trip last year and was far from disgraced in the G.1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last month despite being a bit too keen. This drop in class can see her back to winning ways despite giving weight away to the field under the race conditions. I have the 100-30 overnight.

Straight after at 7.00 the two-year-old fillies face 5f for the Listed Arqana Irish EBF Marwell Stakes. The cash came for Mauiewowie on her debut earlier this month and she duly won over this C&D in the style of one that it might pay to keep on side through the summer – front two went clear. That was on softer going then she’ll get today but you had to like the way she went about things. I am on at 6-4.
