It’s been a quiet, and somewhat hungover, start to the week at Triple G Towers, sadly Football didn’t come home! I had no bets on Monday and none for Tuesday either but there are some to be had as the week progresses with some decent races coming up.
Best bets for the horse racing at Longchamp
The afternoon/evening meeting at Longchamp on Wednesday has a couple of Group Two’s and the Group One 1m4f Grand Prix de Paris which is the highlight of the Bastille Day card.
The Group One 1m4f Grand Prix de Paris is due off at 7.20. As you would expect there’s a few good one's lining-up not least Hurricane Lane. My tip for the Dante when he won, Epsom when third in the Derby and then out in Ireland when winning the Irish Derby (I am on ante-post for the St Leger as well) he has an obvious chance here. Talking on the Godolphin website on Monday Charlie Appleby said: “Hurricane Lane heads to Paris in good order. We expected him to need some time after what looked a hard race in the Irish Derby but he surprised us with how well he came out of it. He worked nicely over the weekend and we opted to take this route as there is plenty of time between now and the St Leger. This looks a good opportunity to hopefully win another G1 over a mile and a half and he looks the one to beat.” A few of the Bookies have chalked-up early and 6-4 is about in places which I have.Update
Best bet for the horse racing at KillarneyI nearly missed this one, hopefully the Tracker has reminded me just in time. Queen's Speech goes in the 5.55 at Killarney over the mile. She went into the notebook after her debut win as a two-year-old, my notes reading 'The American Pharoah filly is related to several winners in America and won impressively on her debut at the Curragh in early November.' Down the field in the G.3 Coolmore Stud Circus Maximus Irish EBF Athasi Stakes at the Curragh in May on first start this year, she lead for a long way and faded late on perhaps needing the run to blow away the cobwebs. 9-1 looks big for this and I have taken that this morning.
