Best bets for the horse racing Wednesday 11th January 2023

Just the two meetings on Wednesday, both on the All-Weather with Lingfield in the afternoon and Kempton in the evening - Leicester is waterlogged and off.

I was looking forward to seeing Hawajes make debut at Lingfield as the 125,000 Guineas yearling, a son of top-class two-year-old Mehmas and out of Strange Magic who was also a winner at two, looks likely to be all about precocious speed. sadly the colt will not run.

Best bets for the horse racing at Kempton Park

Charlie Appleby sends two for the 6f Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Fillies' Handicap at 7.30 and I have tipped both before at different times. Elegant Charm hasn't perhaps progressed as hoped and has just the one win in six starts to her name. I have a feeling she may want a little further than this and wouldn't be surprised to see her step-up in trip sooner rather than later, stall 8 isn't ideal either. The form of her run in December is working out well mind you and she has to be considered with James Doyle in the saddle. Glittering Lights remains a maiden after three starts, I tipped her in November when second at Wolverhampton where she was caught in the shadow of the post over seven, the filly having run over a mile on her previous two starts. This might be her trip and I would like to see her bounced out and up the head of affairs early but with Jamie Spencer onboard that might not happen! An opening handicap mark of 75 could look very lenient if she is ridden positively as I think she could leave this lot trailing off that mark if allowed to go on. Hopefully Spencer will do the right thing as I am on at 4-1 overnight as I think that is quite big and the old satchel swingers have priced Elegant Charm too short and expect them to be closer in price in the morning.
