I said at the start of the week that there were a few in the Entries this week that had caught my eye and a couple of them do go on Wednesday evening at Kempton Park. The Bookies clearly were waiting for them as well as they are skinny prices but should both win.
Best bets for the horse racing at Kempton Park
I noticed on Monday Charlie Appleby had El Cordobes entered at Kempton Park in the mile Unibet Novice Stakes at 6.30; also had Kalidasa in but he doesn’t run (entered at Wolverhampton on Friday). I tipped the son of Frankel on debut at Kempton Park when sixth in December where he was trapped on the outside of the field early and Buick had to perhaps get him to do a bit too much early and his race somewhat petered out in the final furlong with Buick not over doing it; it wasn’t a bad first effort. He cost a cool 2,000,000 Guineas as a yearling and I doubt the All-Weather was the plan when the team signed the cheque but he is obviously a late developer. Out of winning Sea The Stars mare Bold Lass his two half-siblings have both been winners and there is a lot to like about the colt on paper. James Doyle takes over in the saddle.
The second of the entries that caught my eye for Wednesday was a member of the Dirty Dozen for 2024 in the shape of Popcorn Magic entered for the 1m3f Unibet Support Safe Gambling Novice Stakes at 7.30 by Andrew Balding. The four-year-old didn’t make his debut until November last year at Lingfield winning over the 1m2f there despite doing plenty wrong. The chestnut colt was slow away, keen in the early stages and then pretty green when first put under pressure. All that said he won, quickening clear of the field under David Probert in the style of a horse with plenty more under the bonnet when he gets the hang of things. He might be one to keep an eye on this winter and I am backing him here.At the prices, both 4-5 on the first show Tuesday evening, I have unusually for me gone with a double that pays 2.24-1 as I think they will both be gambled.
