Best bets for the horse racing Tuesday 26th January 2021

A quiet start to the week with no bet on Monday and truth be told there won’t be many bets over the first half of this week. I am of course plotting a few for Thursday at Meydan and we do have a cracking Saturday of horse racing to look forward – hopefully the weather will play ball - with the 'Trials day' at Cheltenham whilst Doncaster hosts three Grade 2s.  Officials at Cheltenham and Doncaster are confident of beating the cold snap as I write on Monday. I am backing one on Tuesday afternoon up at Wolverhampton; it is a bit of a speculative one based on breeding and connections rather than form.

Best bet for the horse racing at Wolverhampton

Charlie Appleby sends New Exceed to make her belated debut in the Get Your Ladbrokes Daily Odds Boost Fillies' Novice Stakes over 1m1½f at 4.40. As I say this bet is based on breeding as she is by Dawn Approach out of pretty decent Listed winner (for Fabre and the Appleby) La Arenosa. This chestnut filly should prove above average and as the yard one the corresponding race last year with a three-year-old debutant you’d like to think there is a plan. Her full brother, Eternal Prince, has run three times without winning which is a concern but this doesn’t look that tough an affair so she should get off the mark first try. I am on at 3-1 this morning which finger crossed will look very generous later.
