Best bets for the horse racing Tuesday 11th February 2020

As feared the weather has taken its toll on the horse racing already this week after we lost three meetings on Sunday, Catterick was abandoned on Monday. Ayr has become the latest course to fall victim to Storm Ciara with its Tuesday meeting cancelled due to waterlogging, the same fate had already seen Lingfield cancel their Jumps card. They do race at Chelmsford City on the Polytrack and Newcastle on the Tapeta and I fancy one at both meetings.

I am a big fan of a bit of track and trip form down at Chelmsford City and we have one in the opener at 1.35 the 6f toteplacepot First Bet Of The Day Classified Stakes. Krazy Paving has two wins and one place in five run here and returned to form on the back of a wind operation when scoring over C&D 4 days ago. Gets in here off same mark, has been drawn in stall 2 and with Grace McEntee riding again a quick-fire double if predicted. Get on at the 7-2 that Hills have gone early.

Charlie Appleby had thrice raced maiden Discovery Island entered in a couple this week and the gelding goes in the 7.20 up in Geordieland the mile Bombardier British Hopped Amber Beer Novice Stakes. He was just touched off over 1m at Newmarket on debut in August then only fifth on second start over 7f on good to firm at Sandown later that month; close second again over 1m on good at Newmarket in September. He has been getting beat by some fair ones and clearly sets the standard. I hope it’s fourth time lucky as at 11-8 with Hills again I am on.

Be lucky
