Best bets for the horse racing Thursday 18th May

Warning, this post may have a DeJa'Vu feel to it. Charlie Appleby has three runners at Sandown Park on Thursday and all three are ones I have talked of and backed before.  Spoiler, I am backing them again. Two will be plenty short enough with one at a more working man's price; they all have a chance though and a cheeky Thursday Patent might be the way to go if that is your sort of thing.

Best bets for the horse racing at Sandown Park

The first race of interest to me in a busy sixty-minutes or so is the 5.55 the 1m6f Casumo Horse Racing & Sports Betting Handicap. Local Law owes me, I have tipped the gelding all four runs to date and he is yet to win a race. Made three-year-old debut at Chelmsford in cheekpieces last month, finishing last of three in a 1m6f handicap, stepping-up significantly in trip from his runs at two; Pied Piper a neck ahead in second he meets that one a pound better off here. Allowing for the fact the winner was far more experienced and now rated 91 it wasn’t a terrible effort. This ones best effort, arguably, came on soft going last back end at Nottingham so the weather this week may have helped his chances but with little if any rain forecast on Thursday it shouldn't get bottomless. I am on at 5-1

At 6.25 they face 1m2f for the Download The Casumo App Today Handicap and the one in here is Siskany. This colt has had a far better start to his career winning two of three starts (tipped both time on here) including at Windsor last time over this trip quite comfortably. 3lb rise in the ratings doesn’t look harsh and hopefully he can gain his third career win in this.  Softer going is an unknown but as said above it shouldn't be too bad, Zinc White who won on soft last time is considered the danger. I am on at 5-2

Lastly for me at 6.55 it is the Listed Casumo Best Odds Guaranteed Heron Stakes over the mile. Highland Avenue is the one I am on. Second on sole start at two in December he has had a cracking year to date, winning all three of his starts at three including the 1m1f Listed Feilden Stakes last time. Has the 3lb penalty to shoulder here but the grey is clear top-rated and should prove too strong for Mostahdaf whilst the other danger, on paper, Nando Parrado has a bit to prove now but does have placed form on soft. I am on the jolly to continue his impressive run of form at 13-8 overnight.

Be lucky
