Best bets for the horse racing this weekend from Lingfield and Longchamp

The big meeting in the UK is of course at Aintree and I have dealt with the Grand National Festival and the Grand National itself on standalone posts earlier in the week.

As for the rest of the weekend, there is some money to be made all being well away from the big shindig as I do like the chances of a couple at Lingfield on the Polytrack Saturday.

The first fancy is Big Time Maybe in the 5f Betway Handicap at 4.15. He hasn’t won since June last year but has tumbled down the weights as a result and his last two runs suggest that he might be about to pick up another prize. Scott McCullagh takes off a very handy 7lb and breaking from stall 3 he should be able to grab a nice pitch early. It is a tricky little heat but he is worth a punt at 11-4.

Straight after at 4.50 it’s the 1m2f Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap

I think the handicapper might have the measure of Jai Hanuman now and I am taking the likely jolly on. Subliminal is lightly raced for a 4yo and has put in a couple of good efforts the last twice, a win and a second beaten a neck both here over track and trip. The colt is also rising in the ratings but this does appear to be his ideal trip and a little more may be in the tank yet. I have a bit of the 7-2.

There is also a bet to be had on Sunday across the Channel in France.

Ghaiyyath is on my Dirty Dozen list as one to follow again this year and I am sure he will be winning some decent prizes. Having returned from winter quarters in Dubai early he has been being prepared back at HQ for the Group Two 1m2f Prix d’Harcourt at Longchamp this Sunday at 4.00. The colt won the G.3 Prix du Prince d'Orange on his only start last season back in September over track and trip track on good-soft. The Bookies aint chalked-up at the time of writing but so I will grab the best price I can when they do as I am still convinced this colt is going to win some big prizes. Godolphinactually have four runners, two from Charlie Appleby and two trained by Andre Fabre but for me, Intellogent is perhaps the biggest danger but the selection gets 6lb from him.

Be lucky
