Best bets for the horse racing this weekend around the world

Its a busy weekend of action across the globe again with Newbury and Warwick the main meetings here in the UK on Saturday.

Best bet for the horse racing at Jebel Ali

In Dubai they race at Jebel Ali, the lesser known of the track out there, where they are hosting the Group Three Jebel Ali Mile (Sponsored by Shadwell) on the Dirt track due off at 12.20 our time. Sovereign Prince is tasked with supplying Godolphin their first winner in the only Group race run in the UAE not hosted at Meydan. The four-year-old has posted three turf victories at Meydan for Charlie Appleby, including taking the Listed Jumeirah Classic in 2022 and scoring on his seasonal return over a mile in January in the Zabeel Trophy. The son of Dubawi put in a decent effort on his only previous dirt appearance, coming home fifth in last season’s G3 Saudi Derby. Charlie Appleby said: “This will be our first runner at Jebel Ali but we were keen to support the race as it has a lot of history. Sovereign Prince has a wide draw in 12 but will be very competitive if he performs to his best. He has some form on dirt, having run in last season’s Saudi Derby, so the surface won’t be completely alien to him.” A relatively lightly raced type he is one I have kept an eye on since debut, actually tipped him that day and on other occasions, and I think he should have more to offer yet so is fancied to take this, I am on at 7-4 this morning BPG.

Best bets for the horse racing at Newbury

Apparently this is one of Champion trainer Paul Nicholls favourite meetings so it is perhaps not surprising to see a number of entries for his yard on the card; sadly two of them are long odds-on shots in the shape of  McFabulous and Greaneteen and can't be bet. A race you can have a bet in is the Grade Two 2m7½f Betfair Denman Chase at 2.24. Hitman, another for the Nicholls yard, was last seen when pulled-up in the G.2 King George VI Chase on Boxing Day; vet said gelding had bled from his nose. If all is well today I am convinced he is the best horse lining-up and see no reason why he shouldn't stay the trip. He gets 6lb from the biggest danger, which is  Eldorado Allen who will no doubt be there or thereabouts again, and I have backed him at 11-4 BPG.
