Best bets for the horse racing this weekend

Having dealt with the numerous star names running this weekend that you can’t bet on due to their odds in an earlier post, unless you fancy an accumulator on them all and I have had the throw away tenner bet, in this post I will deal with the horses I am having a bet on this weekend.
I have spread the love around a bit with my four bets being at four different tracks, two on the All-Weather, with one Chaser and one Hurdler making up the afternoon fancies.

Best bet for the horse racing at Lingfield Park

Fivethousandtoone is one that has been in my notebook since 2000 and in truth has never reached the heights expected of him; Andrew Balding said of him once if he replicates what he does on the Gallops on the track the opposition will be in serious trouble. He runs in the 7f  Boost Your Acca At BetMGM Handicap this afternoon at 1.10 and hopefully can get his first victory of the year. He has a habit of missing the break but stall one helps here and if Oisin Murphy can get him out on terms he should be in business. His recent run at Kempton will have blown away the cobwebs having been off for nine-months and the step-up to seven-furlongs could help. I have taken a chance at 9-2.

Best bet for the horse racing at Haydock Park

The 2m5½f Betfair Exchange Graduation Chase at 1.50 is the race of interest at Haydock with last season's G.2 National Hunt Chase and G.1 Neville Hotels Novice Chase winner Gaillard Du Mesnil jolly. Last year's Grand National third is obviously at his best in real stamina tests but he is more than capable of competing over shorter trips and has far more experience over the larger obstacles than any of his rivals here. The mare Apple Away looks likely to give him most to think about if she takes to Chases.  She has a very progressive hurdles campaign last season and was last seen putting in a front-running display t win the G.1 3m Winners Wear Cavani Sefton Novices' Hurdle at Aintree during the Grand National meeting. She is an Irish point winner and I have a feeling she could turn into a very decent staying novice chaser this season. Getting all the weight that she does I am on at 2-1 in the hop Lucinda Russell has her cherry ripe for this.

Best bet for the horse racing at Ascot

The race of interest to me at Ascot is the Grade Two 2m3f Coral Hurdle at 2.05. Goshen won this last year and is back to defend but I simply cannot back the horse as he can look brilliant one day and like a lowly handicapper the next. I like the look of the Henderson trained mare Theatre Glory getting the various weight allowances as she does. She goes well fresh and can reverse the form with Goshen from when the pair were second and third behind Knappers Hill in the Select Hurdle last April where she got interfered with up the run-in and perhaps didn’t quite get the 2m5f that afternoon. I have a bit of the 5-2 this morning. Sceau Royal won’t be far away.

Best bet for the horse racing at Wolverhampton

Charlie Appleby had a couple entered in the 5.45 stay Golden With BetMGM Safer Gambling EBF Novice Stakes in the shape of Bold Style and El Cordobes and it is Bold Style that will make debut under James Doyle. Backing Appleby runners at Dunstall Park has not worked out this week, I tipped three and they all lost, but I quite like this one and he must get one right sooner or later. By Shamardal out of and unraced New Approach mare La Rosetta she is from a family that have produced plenty of winners. 7-5 is short enough but I have a bit of that. James Doyle rides.
