Best bets for the horse racing this weekend

I am having one bet this weekend, unusual for me, but that is the way it is. The Grade One Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot is the race of the day but that looks at the mercy of Thyme Hill now with Buzz out; it will be interesting to see what Champ does in that race. I considered backing Nina The Terrier in the Listed Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Haydock but she’s too short in the book for me.

Best bet for the horse racing at Lingfield Park

The race i am betting in is the 2.00 at Lingfield the Listed Betway Quebec Stakes. This looks a fair renewal of the race with three-time G.3 winner Regal Reality eye catching in the entries making his All-Weather debut. The six-year-old didn’t exactly have a great summer but if he goes on Polytrack and recaptures his 2020 form he could be hard to beat. Garden Paradise gets a couple of pounds as a filly and having won a Listed heat at Kempton last time she has to be considered but this looks a proper heat compared to that race and that may have been a bit of a freak performance as she got an uncontested lead– was rated in the 80’s prior to that. The form of the Listed Churchill Stakes won by Pyledriver is on show and with that horse running so well in defeat out in Hong Kong last weekend in the G.1 Hong Kong Vase it looks decent form at that. Dubai Warrior has three C&D wins to his name and was fifth in that race so has to be considered. Felix was ahead of him that day in third and there is no obvious reason for the form to be reversed here. He was flying home in the Churchill having found a bit of trouble in running and with a clear run should prove to strong for this field. Drawn in three he should be able to track the early pace and pick them all off up the home straight. I am on at 2-1 overnight.

Be lucky
